College Campus Careers with the Girl Scouts
November 14, 2014
Mount Mary University's Women's Leadership Institute hosted about 80 Girl Scouts on campus where the girls worked with our faculty in break out sessions working on projects toward earning a badge. The event culminated with a pizza party and leadership exercise.

Lt. General Claudia Kennedy (RET.) spoke about women taking on more non-traditional leadership roles, being honest with yourself, and pursuing your passions. In addition, Mount Mary University student Evone Harris told her story about reaching her potential, and the real need for student scholarships. With 300 in attendance, including 30 students, this scholarship fundraiser was a great success!
Summer Leadership Institute
June 10-13, 2014
This year, 21 students from seven different colleges and universities around the state were in attendance. Students participated in interactive leadership and skill building workshops throughout the 3 1/2 days, including personal visioning, learning the creative competencies, diversity, confidence, reflection, networking and more. At the graduation ceremony, all students received certificates for completing the program.

Cynthia Cohen, PhD, director of the program in peacebuilding and the arts at Brandeis University, and Jennifer Freeman, MA, director of the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice, Women Peacemakers Program at the University of San Diego, explored the contributions that creative arts and scholarship can make to the work of professionals in restorative justice, conflict intervention and trauma healing.

Art of the Creative Leader, “Dancing with Complexity”

Through this workshop, participants were exposed to the concept of leader flexibility through an artistic, expressive learning experience. Participants explored their potential to work with change, connect with others, while learning how to better navigate complexity in the workplace. Summer Leadership Institute
In June 2013, 20 women from different colleges and universities came together for the Summer Leadership Institute. The spent three days participating in a variety of workshops on topics ranging from negotiating and public speaking to diversity and personal branding to build their skills and develop a personal vision statement to guide them along their paths to becoming great leaders.
