SSND Alumnae Gather to Celebrate the Centennial
Mount Mary hosted over 100 Schools Sisters of Notre Dame alumnae on campus Friday, June 14 for a day-long celebration. The events were kicked off with second showing of Stories from our Sisters: A Mount Mary Centennial Treasury, a video honoring retired SSNDs who held various faculty and administrative positions with the college.

Following the video screening, the Sisters toured Campus and paid a visit to the Art Department where faculty member Brad Bernard introduced them to the Centennial Mural, a work in progress depicting the college's 100-year history. Several Sisters added their brush strokes to the piece. The completed Centennial Mural will be unveiled at the September 19 Gala. View photos of students and Sisters at work on the Mural.

The Sisters also attended a special luncheon and concluded the day with Mass.

SSND Premier of Stories from our Sisters: A Mount Mary Centennial Treasury
On April 3, our Sisters were the stars on the big screen in a special Centennial movie celebration organized by the college. Nearly 100 Sisters came together at the SSND Elm Grove campus to watch the premiere showing of Stories from Sisters: A Mount Mary Centennial Treasury, a video featuring memories of twelve Sisters from varying academic divisions and leadership roles at the college over the past 60 years.

The audience members enjoyed the touching and often humorous stories on the screen. At the conclusion of the movie, Mount Mary College President Eileen Schwalbach presented all twelve participants with their own copies of the film.

The movie was the brainstorm of the college's Centennial Planning Committee which wanted to create a tribute to the Sisters to ensure that their vital roles and stories would be captured for future generations. It was produced by Life Productions, a Milwaukee-based women-owned company and the interviews were shot on the SSND Elm Grove campus last fall. The film was shown again at the June 14 Centennial event for Sisters who were unable to attend the premiere.

Centennial Mass of the Holy Spirit
January 31, 2013 -- The Mount Mary College community marked its Centennial on January 31, 2013 with a Mass of the Holy Spirit in the Alumnae Dining Hall. Milwaukee Archbishop Jerome Listecki presided and spoke of parallels in his own religious calling and the path of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, the College’s sponsors.

He thanked the Mount Mary community for, “expending the generosity of God – taking what you learn here and expending it with others.”

More than 300 guests attended the mass which included a special fire bowl procession by three Mount Mary students, symbolizing a presence of the Holy Spirit. After the mass, Archbishop Listecki greeted guests, including over 70 School Sisters of Notre Dame. Sr. Mary Anne Owens, Provincial Leader of the Central Pacific Province, was also a special guest at the Centennial mass celebration.

One of 100 Voices - "The Reason Why We Sing"
Past members of the Gospel Choir were invited back to sing in the Mount Mary College Gospel Choir's Centennial Gospel Jamboree on May 3. The goal was to gather one hundred voices in this special concert.

Get Into the Picture at Mount Mary College
One hundred Alumnae will join Mount Mary's Art Department in the creation of a unique mosaic image of Mount Mary College in honor of the centennial anniversary. Each artist will use their favorite medium—colored pencil, pastel, printing ink, collage material, oil, acrylic, fiber, etc.—to “color in” the canvas to capture the colors, shapes and textures of a section of a photo of campus. All sections will be assembled into one large image and unveiled in the fall of 2013.
