Theology Department

The quest to find meaning in the study of God and the relationship between God and the universe is the foundation of theology. Studying theology also can engage a person to develop his or her own faith perspective.

Mount Mary’s Theology Department offers students many opportunities to understand and find meaning in the Judeo-Christian tradition, while being open to both Christian and non-Christian viewpoints.

When studying theology at Mount Mary College you’ll:

• gain a strong foundation in the liberal arts

• engage biblical, historical and systematic study of Judeo-Christian Tradition
• have the opportunity to explore diverse religious traditions and theological viewpoints

Mount Mary’s theology major is designed for those interested in:

• personal enrichment
  
• attending graduate school

Theology majors are encouraged to complete an internship to enrich their experiences outside the academic setting. Religious education students complete student teaching.

Our theology graduates have used their studies in careers such as:

• Director of religious education
  
• Middle or high school religion/theology teacher
  
• Youth minister
  
• Human services careers

For those who already have a bachelor’s degree, Mount Mary offers a theology minor and a Certificate in Theology. Studying theology compliments career fields such as education, social work, business, nursing and psychology.
