Coordinated Dietetics Program Curriculum

Mount Mary University’s accredited undergraduate Coordinated Program in Dietetics is a highly competitively and rigorous program. The program combines the classroom learning and 1,200 hours of supervised practice required to complete a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics degree and be eligible to take the Registration Examination for Dietitians. The program is designed to be completed in four years.

Courses cover areas such as biology, chemistry, nutrition, human physiology, food preparation and management, food safety, psychology, sociology and counseling strategies.

Application Process

The dietetics undergraduate program has different admission requirements than general admission to Mount Mary University. To pursue a dietetics bachelor’s degree, you must first apply online to Mount Mary University.

In the spring semester of your sophomore year, you will apply to the undergraduate coordinated program in dietetics to complete the required course work and supervised practice. A maximum of 19 students are accepted to the undergraduate coordinated program each year.

To be eligible for the undergraduate coordinated program in dietetics, you must:

  • have a minimum overall GPA of 2.85 on a 4.0 scale
  • have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for all courses required for the major
  • have a minimum grade of C in all dietetic major courses. (Note: A student who has received a grade less than a C in two courses required for the major is not eligible to apply. A student who repeats a course required for the major and receives a grade less than a C both times is not eligible to apply.)
  • complete the following courses by the end of the spring semester in which you submit your Coordinated Program application:

Become a Registered Dietitian

The Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, administers the Registration Examination for Dietitians to individuals seeking the professional distinction and credential of Registered Dietitian (RD).

Successful completion of the undergraduate Coordinated Program prepares you for the RD exam and for active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. We encourage you to talk with your faculty adviser prior to taking the RD exam to ensure you are fully prepared. You will meet with your academic advisor in the dietetics department each semester to ensure that all requirements are met.

Registered Dietitians are eligible for certification in the State of Wisconsin.
