Get Experience While in College

English majors are required to participate in at least one internship. During your junior year, you will work with your faculty adviser to find and complete an internship. More than one internship is encouraged. Students in the English education concentration will do fieldwork and student teaching to fulfill the internship requirement.

When you intern, you practice key job seeking skills—locating, applying for and interviewing for a position—and you can make valuable industry contacts. Internships also help you learn new skills, enhance your strengths, develop an area of expertise and apply what you’ve learned in class.
