Nursing Program Admission
All students must first apply and be accepted to Mount Mary College. At the time of acceptance to Mount Mary, students will be admitted as pre-nursing students. Pre-nursing students are required to take only the prerequisite science and general education courses required for admission to Columbia College of Nursing (CCON), which is a total of 62 credits. Students who transfer to Mount Mary will take their remaining prerequisites courses at Mount Mary and then apply to CCON.
In their last semester of coursework at Mount Mary, all pre-nursing students must apply to Columbia College of Nursing to continue their path to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from CCON. Students must apply prior to March 1 for entry in the fall term and October 1 for entry in the spring term.
To be considered for admission to Columbia College of Nursing, students must meet the following criteria:
- cumulative GPA of 2.8 or greater on a 4.0 scale
- successful completion with a grade of C or better in all essential behavioral and natural science courses (these courses must have been completed within the last seven years.)
- meet the residency requirement of at least 16 non-nursing credits completed at Mount Mary College
- take the HESI entrance exam and score at least 80%
