Soccer Coaching Staff Joe Shokatz Joe Shokatz assumes the role of head coach of the Mount Mary College soccer program this fall after spending last season as an assistant with the Blue Angels kickers. Shokatz, a Milwaukee native, attended St. Thomas More High School on Milwaukee's southeast side. Shokatz played collegiate soccer at Edgewood College in Madison, Wis., while earning his Bachelor's degree in Broad Field Social Studies and Education. After his four years of eligibility were completed, Shokatz remained with the team as an assistant to both the men's and women's programs, earning three NCAA tournament appearances in his tenure. Coach Shokatz has over nine years of high school coaching experience coaching both boys and girls soccer at Vincent and Brown Deer high schools in the greater Milwaukee area. Under his guidance in 2005, the Vincent girls team captured its first ever Milwaukee City Conference championship. Coach Shokatz has also coached for the Milwaukee Simbas Club team at various age levels. Shokatz completed his Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction through National Lewis University and teaches various civics and history courses at Vincent High School in Milwaukee where he has taught for the last 10 years. Shokatz, his wife, Vicky, and daughter, Lucy, all reside in Brown Deer.
