Preparatory Steps to Study Abroad -
- Visit Nan Metzger, Director of International Studies, (414) 258-4810, ext. 459, in the Study Abroad office, Notre Dame Hall, room 253 to learn about the programs and scholarships available to you.
- Apply for a United States Passport if you do not already have one. All travelers must have a valid passport.
- Apply for the program of your choice. Applications can be found online or in Notre Dame 253.
- Submit two personal recommendations. Download the recommendation form.
- Apply for any applicable scholarships.
- Review health and safety tips.
- Start packing!

- Short-term programs
Students
participating in any of the short-term study abroad programs may apply for the Mount Mary College Study Abroad Scholarship designed to promote international understanding and personal growth.
- Long-term programs
Students participating in study abroad programs 4 weeks or longer in length may apply for the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program.
Congratulations to Bao Yang, a Social Work major who is will study abroad at Konkuk University in Seoul, South Korea, this spring. She has received the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship for $2,000 to support her studies abroad.
Bao Yang is an Honors scholar and part of the Promise Program at Mount Mary. She volunteers tutoring English as a second language through Empowering Latino Parents. Twenty-eight Wisconsin students received a Gilman this year; only two were students of schools in the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.
Congratulations to Yolanda Coleman, Mount Mary's "first ever" recipient of the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship. Yolanda was one of 24 Wisconsin residents chosen forthe 2012-2013 academic year. The $3,500 award will support her semester-long study abroad to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she will attend the University of Belgrano. She is currently a Grace Scholar and Honor Student double-majoring in Nursing and Spanish.
