Isabelle Cherney, Ph.D. was installed as Mount Mary University’s 13th president on July 1, 2022. She is a respected social scientist and her presidential priorities are:
- Navigate the changing landscape of higher education
- Launch the Institute for the Advancement of Women and Children
- Expand community partnerships
PRESIDENT’S CABINET
Comprised of the President and the University’s chief administrators, the Cabinet oversees the development and execution of strategic priorities, policies, and initiatives that support:
- Academic excellence

- Financial stewardship
ACADEMIC LEADERS
Comprised of the Vice President of Academic & Student Affairs, academic deans, and program leaders, this team works collaboratively to:
- Develop academic policies
- Oversee curriculum
- Champion an inclusive, student-centered learning environment
STUDENT EXPERIENCE LEADERS
Student Experience Leaders model integrity, inclusivity, and care for others. They play a vital role in shaping the overall student journey by:
- Helping students navigate university resources
- Fostering a safe and secure campus
- Connecting students with opportunities for leadership, well-being, and academic growth
Board of Trustees
Mount Mary University’s Board of Trustees, comprised of business and community leaders, serves the university through responsibilities delegated by the university’s Corporate Board. The role of the Board of Trustees is to support and direct the university toward achieving its mission and strategic plan, and to maintain the highest ethical and fiduciary standards to advance the university’s educational purpose and financial integrity.
Corporate Board
The Mount Mary University Corporate Board is comprised of School Sisters of Notre Dame from the Central Pacific Province, which owns and sponsors the university. The Corporate Board oversees the operation of the university. While some of these oversight responsibilities are delegated to the Board of Trustees, the Corporate Board reserves responsibilities for identifying the university’s mission, approving all transactions related to the land and property, approving all borrowing over $1 million and hiring and firing the university president.
