Mount Mary University's launch of the Institute for the Advancement of Women and Children on March 12 was a resounding success! Nearly 300 guests filled the Alumni Dining Hall to explore interactive exhibits from our four Centers of Excellence, highlighting innovation in technology, human rights, leadership, and health.
Each Center showcased dynamic exhibits highlighting student, staff, and faculty research and projects that demonstrate Mount Mary University’s commitment to innovation, equity, and community impact. From NASA-inspired hydroponics and AI healthcare chatbots to maternal health research, leadership programming, and human trafficking prevention, the evening showcased Mont Mary's commitment to equity and community impact. We were honored to receive extensive media coverage from BizTimes (read article), CBS 58, and FOX6 news. CBS 58 captured the energy and excitement of the evening. Check out the CBS 58 story to see highlights and interviews from the event.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of the community and event attendees, we have already raised over $200,000 to fuel this mission. This momentum speaks to the shared belief in the Institute’s mission and its future impact. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped us celebrate this milestone!
Four Centers of Excellence
The Institute for the Advancement of Women and Children stands as a testament to the university's commitment to gender equity and empowerment. Launched under the direction of Mount Mary president Isabelle Cherney in 2023, the Institute is a continuation of the mission begun by the School Sisters of Notre Dame over a century ago. Through its four Centers of Excellence, the Institute provides women with the tools, resources and support they need to thrive personally, academically and professionally.
