According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Pharmacy offers strong career opportunities for graduates with a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, pharmacists earned a median annual wage of $140,910 ($67.75 per hour) in May 2025. Approximately 325,200 pharmacists were employed in the United States in 2025, with employment projected to grow 5% from 2025 to 2035, faster than the average for all occupations. About 12,500 pharmacist openings are projected each year over the decade, with many openings resulting from retirements and pharmacists transitioning to other occupations. Pharmacists work in a variety of settings, including community pharmacies, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. All states require pharmacists to be licensed.
