Sonja Thomsen is a Milwaukee-based artist with a diverse practice that combines sculpture photography, interactive installation and site-specific public art. For this installation, Thomsen explores the language of light and its potential as a material. Netting reflects the space inhabited by the viewer while refracting light onto interior arrangements that appear to be concealed. Moving closer to the barrier, our comprehension of the interior space becomes distorted, emphasizing the threshold between perception and observation.
