Student Wins Study Abroad Scholarship

For the third time in a row, a Mount Mary student was awarded a Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship.

June 3, 2013 -- Shaticia (Shay) Landry was one of 14 students from Wisconsin colleges and universities to receive the federally-funded award which will support her study abroad this summer in Peru. Landry will be taking courses at the local university, Universidad Católica de Santa Maria, and enjoying a home stay while also participating in local volunteer opportunities at a squatter settlement and a school.

Planning a Follow-on Project to give back following the study abroad is an important aspect of the Gilman Scholarship, and Landry plans on sharing her experience with other Grace Scholars to help motivate them to embrace study abroad.

Landry is currently a double major in Psychology and Spanish.
