Mount Mary University Unites for Day of Service
Mount Mary volunteers will offer their time at two Hunger Task Force sites
MILWAUKEE (Oct. 2, 2015) -In conjunction with its 2015 "Homecoming on the Mount" celebration, members of the Mount Mary community will gather together on Saturday, Oct. 3 for a day of service to help fight hunger.
Approximately 75 Mount Mary volunteers will offer their time at two Hunger Task Force sites:
- The Farm, 9000 S. 68th St., where fresh fruits and vegetables are grown to feed the hungry in the Milwaukee Metro community.
- Stockbox Sorting, 300 E. College Ave., where Hunger Task Force builds "Stockboxes" of healthy foods that are delivered to low-income seniors free of charge. Each box contains 16 nutritious items including rice, cereal, juice, beef stew, pasta and vegetables.
Mount Mary students will be joined by employees, alumnae, and other community members between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Oct. 3
"Homecoming on the Mount is a time for Mount Mary community members to come together and celebrate our University's heritage, rooted deeply in the charism of the School Sisters of Notre Dame," said Sarah Olejniczak, dean for Student Affairs. "Through Mount Mary's Day of Service, students, employees, and alumnae are able to come together to fulfill the vision of women transforming their communities."
Other homecoming events include Alumnae Awards Night, a special recognition of the class of 1965, and many others. View a complete list of events.
