To honor city's most impactful women, Mount Mary sponsors Women of Influence
On Friday, June 15, over 850 individuals gathered at the Wisconsin Center in downtown Milwaukee for the Milwaukee Business Journal's 2017 Women of Influence awards.
Marie O'Brien, '08, welcomed attendees at the ceremony, describing the importance of supporting the city's community of women leaders. Mount Mary University is a primary sponsor of the event.
At the event, participants also viewed the University's "Fast Forward" video, an inspiring video that underscores the importance of fostering qualities of leadership for girls and women.
As part of the University's display in the lobby, faculty and students from the fashion department prepared a playful experience around the theme of the blockbuster movie "Wonder Woman. It included a Kendra Scott jewelry giveaway, a Wonder Woman personality quiz and a creative display of fully styled, original clothing designs that a modern wonder woman of today would wear to an event such as this.
Among the 28 women honored at the event was Ericajoy Daniels, a member of Mount Mary's Board of Trustees. She is the senior vice president of diversity and inclusion at Aurora Health Care; she received her award in the category of inspirational leadership. See Ericajoy Daniels' video.
Some previous Women of Leadership award winners from Mount Mary include alumna, Cynthia LaConte, '84, CEO of Dohmen companies (Dohmen Life Science Services, Red Arrow and the Dohmen Company Foundation), and Dr. Eileen Schwalbach, president of Mount Mary University.
Wonder Woman means business
Original designs by fashion professor Jess Frantal and styling by merchandising student Alex Steinke, Mount Mary proudly displayed designs that a modern wonder woman of today would wear to a networking event.
