Mount Mary to offer graduate and family housing
Mount Mary University will now offer graduate student housing at a newly purchased four-unit apartment building specifically for graduate students, according to Erich Zeimantz, director of residence life.
The building at 2754 North 92nd Street has been named the Mary John Place, in memory of S. Mary John Van Vonderen, SSND. She directed the buildings and grounds for 58 years, from its beginnings in 1929 until 1987.
The Mary John Place is located on 92nd Street, just southeast of campus. Each of the four units contains two bedrooms. Individual students may share a unit with a roommate, or a couple or family may rent out the entire unit.
"This is an exciting development, to be able to offer graduate and family housing to students," Zeimantz said. "We definitely get inquiries about this type of housing."
A dedication ceremony is set for noon on Wednesday, August 29, 2018. At this time, the small house located on the southeast corner of campus, nicknamed the "Corner House," will officially be renamed the Lorenz House, in honor of S. Ellen Lorenz, SSND, the sixth president of Mount Mary (1979-1986).
