Creativity and style await at Fashion Boot Camp

Mount Mary will welcome middle and high-school students to fashion boot camp June 18-22. Students will learn about the fashion industry and practice their skills in a variety of areas such as fashion design, promotion, forecasting and more.

During the weeklong event, Fashion design participants will get to practice their drawing skills, create a garment and walk down the runway wearing their own creation. Fashion promotion participants will work in Photoshop and other Adobe software. The end of the week will feature a student fashion show.

The program is divided into two categories and is co-directed by Sarah Eichhorn and Trish Kuehnl, faculty representing both fashion programs, fashion design and merchandise management. The design students learn about garment design and construction, while fashion merchandising students will cover fashion photography, styling and forecasting.

"This is the perfect opportunity for students interested in fashion to explore the industry before college in a fun yet educational environment," Eichhorn said.

"Students will gain an introduction to several of the techniques and software that our college students use under the guidance of our seasoned fashion faculty," added Kuehnl.
