One-woman play enacts life of social justice advocate

Singer, writer and actress Teri Bays comes to Mount Mary University October 25 to perform a one-woman play depicting the life of social justice advocate Joan Chittister.

Bays will perform “Joan Chittister: Her Story, My Story, Our Story” at 6:30 p.m. in the Alumnae Dining Room. It will touch on several different themes, such as life issues, women, interfaith, spirituality and prayer.

Mount Mary Vice President for Mission and Identity S. Joan Penzenstadler SSND helped to organize the event, and believes that the play’s message coincides with the university’s values, “in light of the current climate in our country and the mission of Mount Mary to further the lives of women," she said.

The play will be approximately 85 minutes long. Mount Mary University is located at 2900 N. Menomonee River Parkway in Milwaukee. Guests should use the 92nd Street entrance. A freewill donation will be accepted in place of a ticket fee. Parking is free.
