Visit Mount Mary during Private College Week July 8-13 and get a summer head start on your college search

Mount Mary will have special programming July 8-13 for high school juniors looking to jump-start their college search.

Mount Mary University is one of 24 Wisconsin institutions participating in Private College Week. Every day, Mount Mary will offer opportunities to tour campus, visit student dorms, attend information sessions, discuss financial aid, and connect with faculty and current students. Two special programming events include:

  • Compass Day: Tuesday, July 9 – Mount Mary will have a special opportunity for students who are undecided about their majors to meet one-on-one with faculty advisors and learn more about the Compass Year program.
  • Instant Decision Day: Friday, July 12 – Apply to Mount Mary at mtmary.edu/applynow, bring a copy of your high school transcript and ACT / SAT test scores, and faculty will make an admission decision on the spot.

Being able to visit multiple schools is a benefit, according to the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (WAICU), so students can easily make comparisons to help them find their best match. Here are other tips for college visits:

Bring along a tour partner – It’s good to have a sounding board.
Meet with campus financial aid advisor – Individual schools offer grants and scholarships that make private colleges more affordable.
Have a meal, see workout facilities – Check out the day-to-day living environment.
Sit in on a class – This will give you a sense of the school’s learning atmosphere.
Talk to a student – They can answer questions from a student perspective.
Read a campus magazine – These are produced for college students, by college students about campus life. Visit archesnews.com to read articles written by Mount Mary students.
Follow Mount Mary on social media – Learn more about events on campus and meet other students on Mount Mary’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
