Extending the legacy into the future

Mount Mary celebrates Founders Day today by honoring the courageous University founders, recognizing high-achieving students and awarding other distinguished individuals at Mount Mary.

Mount Mary honors the SSND heritage by awarding the Mother Theresa and Mother Caroline award to students who live out the legacy of the founders of the School Sisters of Notre Dame.

This year, the Mother Caroline Student Award went to junior Der Yang, who embodies Mother Caroline’s grit, positive spirit, and determination to serve others through her service to her local Hmong community, family, and the Promise Program. The Mother Theresa Award went to Trisha Xiong, a senior who has demonstrated a dynamic faith, servant leadership style, and ability to thrive amidst life’s challenges. Xiong is the Vice-President of the Asian Student Organization, Social Media Coordinator for Theta Alpha Tri-beta, Co-Leader for InterVarsity, and volunteers at both her church and former high school.

At this event, the University takes time to credit the many outstanding individuals within the Mount Mary community. All embody the University's vision: To be part of a diverse and inclusive learning community that educates students to transform the world.

The following notable members of the Mount Mary community received the Heritage Awards, an honorable award that recognizes their dedication to the mission of Mount Mary:
