When it comes to applying for admission, we want to make the process as clear and easy as possible for our international communities. We recommend that you start the international student admission process at least six months in advance of the semester in which you want to start. This way you will have enough time to submit all required documents and be able to best prepare for this transition.

Coming to Mount Mary will require two overall steps. First, you must be admitted to Mount Mary University. Next, you will need to obtain a visa or transfer your I-20 from your current school to Mount Mary University (if you are currently in the US on an F-1 visa). You may (and should) begin considering the financial requirements when you are applying to Mount Mary. However, financial documents are not required for Mount Mary to make an admissions decision. Therefore, you are encouraged to apply with academic credentials and not hold up submitting your application for financial documentation.
- For coursework and degrees earned outside the US: Submit a transcript evaluation to determine U.S. equivalency. The evaluation must be a course-by-course evaluation for Transfer students and General report for First Year students. Accepted evaluation agencies are Educational Credential Evaluators*, One Earth International Credential Evaluations, or World Education Services. Learn more about this requirement. (*Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) has created a custom application for Mount Mary University that will give you a 10% discount. - For coursework and degrees earned inside the U.S, Micronesia, Guam and Puerto Rico: Submit official transcripts from high school/secondary school which you have attended.
- Test scores. Students educated in non-English speaking countries must present proof of English proficiency. Accepted proofs are outlined below. Students who come from countries where language of instruction was in English must provide a written statement from a school, community or church official verifying English proficiency.
- If you are an international student transferring from another U.S. college or university, submit the International Student Transfer Form. (Note: This writable PDF form works best with PCs. Mac computers are not compatible with saving information in this writable PDF.)
- Submit the International Student Financial Support Form (undergraduate) and an official bank statement.
- Students educated in non-English speaking countries are required to provide proof of English language proficiency. Mount Mary accepts any of the following for proof of English language proficiency for undergraduate students:
- TOEFL
- TOEFL iBT: 68 for direct admission, 61-67 for individual admission review
- TOEFL PBT: 520 for direct admission, 500-519 for individual admission review
- TOEFL CBT: 190 for direct admission, 173-189 for individual admission review
- TOEFL ITP: 520 for direct admission, 500-519 for individual admission review
- IELTS: 6.0 for direct admission, 5.5 for individual admission review
- WESLI: Completion of level 600
- ELS: Completion of level 112
To be eligible to apply for graduate study at Mount Mary University, you must have completed high school and completed the equivalent of a U.S. undergraduate (bachelor’s) degree. To apply, follow these steps:
1. Submit an online Graduate International Student Application for admission.
2. Provide proof of English language competency by submitting one of the following:
- An official TOEFL score if English is not your native language. (Mount Mary’s TOEFL code is 1490.) Minimum score requirements are 550 (paper-based test); 250 (computer-based test); 80 (internet-based test). Minimum score requirements for specific graduate programs may vary. Please check with your graduate admission counselor.
- An official International English Language Testing Systems (IELTS) score, if English is not your native language. A minimum score of 6.5 is required. Minimum score requirements for specific graduate programs may vary. Please check with your graduate admission counselor.
- Completion of level 7 from Wisconsin English as a Second Language Institute.
3. Submit official transcripts from the college/university where you received your undergraduate degree. (Transcripts must be translated into English by a certified translator or service.)
4. Submit a transcript evaluation to determine U.S. equivalency of all coursework and degrees. The evaluation must be done course-by-course or in a detailed report by an official evaluation service in the United States. Learn more about this requirement (PDF). 5. Submit the International Student Financial Support Form (graduate) and an official bank statement.
6. Provide documentation to fulfill individual graduate program admission requirements. See graduate program admission details.

- Submit copies of passport.
- Obtain I-20 from Mount Mary University.
- Pay SEVIS fee and schedule visa appointment at US Embassy.
