Safety and Security

Creating a Safe Campus

Mount Mary University is proud of its campus and the safe environment it provides for students, faculty and staff. The university is part of a larger metropolitan area and your safety is important. Keeping the campus safe is both an individual and community concern.

In case of an emergency or to report a suspicious person or activity, call the Public Safety Office at (414) 930-3333 or (414) 807-9560.

For non-emergencies or to arrange a safe evening escort to your vehicle, call the Mount Mary Public Safety Office at (414) 930-3333 or call the Public Safety on Duty Officer at (414) 807-9560.

Mount Mary has implemented the RAVE emergency alert system. Register your cell phone number and email to receive alerts during campus emergencies and school closings.

Campus Safety brochures are available in the Public Safety Office in the lower level of Bergstrom Hall, Room 79.

Mount Mary’s campus community has a low crime rate. Public safety officers certified in CPR and the use of the AED patrol campus 24/7. These officers have the authority to protect the Mount Mary community by enforcing campus regulations. Officers can assist you during emergencies or with security concerns.

In the event of an emergency, Mount Mary will provide alert updates via mtmary.edu/alert and social media if necessary.

Firearms and other dangerous weapons are not permitted on campus, nor is there an authorized storage space for them. Weapons are not allowed in any university building.

The Caroline Hall front desk is staffed 24/7 with either a student worker or security personnel. At the front desk, we monitor security cameras for campus, answer the university phone line, and check in guests at Caroline Hall. Only residents and their registered guests are allowed access to residence hall floors in Caroline Hall. Mount Mary public safety officers are stationed in the residence hall lobby in the overnight hours along with professional staff and resident assistants.

The Assistant Director of Residence Life & Housing is a full-time professional staff member who is here to assist you with your housing needs. Graduate Assistants in Residence Life are a part of the Residence Life & Housing team that are here to help, too!

Caroline Hall and Trinity Woods have 7 Resident Assistants (RAs) total who live and work in the residence halls. Each resident will meet their designated RA on move-in day and can be your first stop for any questions or support. RAs are responsible for hosting and facilitating events, participating in an on-call rotation for after hours support, and so much more. The RAs are dedicated to building community and love to meet with their residents.

The Stop Campus Hazing Act of 2024 requires universities have a hazing policy with information on how to make a report of hazing, the process used to investigate hazing incidents, and availability of hazing prevention and awareness programs. See the attached policy for additional information: Mount Mary University Campus Hazing Policy.
