Student Health Insurance
In accordance with federal law, Mount Mary University encourages all domestic students to have personal health insurance. In the interest of students’ academic success and personal well-being, Mount Mary University does require the following students to have health insurance coverage:
- international students
- student-athletes
- students living in the residence hall
All students listed above must complete the online Health Records Report Form before they begin their first semester; this form can be found on MyMountMary under the Campus Life – Residence Life tab. Note: Individual academic programs may also require students to provide verification of their health insurance information.
Domestic Students
There are several options for domestic students to maintain their healthcare coverage; students may:
- Enroll under the Federal Marketplace at HealthCare.gov
- Apply for state health or other private health programs
- Stay on their parent/guardian’s plans, if this is an option
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact mmu-studentaffairs@mtmary.edu.
International Students
All international students are required to enroll in the Wellfleet insurance plan unless credible proof of health insurance that meets minimum requirements is provided to the University. In the United States the cost of medical services is very high, but lowered by someone having insurance. Having medical insurance may help people to go into less debt if they are in serious need of medical care. We require medical insurance for this reason as well as to ensure that a student is covered for any necessary repatriation costs they may incur as the result of medical needs.
All international students are required to have insurance that is Affordable Care Act compliant provided by Mount Mary through Gallagher Student Insurance with partnership with Wellfleet. International students are asked to complete the form using this link. You will be instructed to log in using your email and a temporary password sent to you through your Mount Mary email. The University must be notified through the link above of insurance for students prior to September 6th or the student will be automatically enrolled in the Wellfleet plan and charged on their student account.
